- 01While 1-on-1 therapy focuses on individual skills, our Social Learning Groups (SLG) provide a social "mini-classroom". It’s a small, structured environment where children can practice skills like turn-taking, conversation, and teamwork with peers in real-time.
- 02Our Social Learning Groups (SLG) are specifically designed for children aged 7 to 12 years old. This period is a critical time for social architecture, where children transition from simple play to more complex peer relationships, teamwork, and social nuances. Between the ages of 7 and 12, social expectations at school and in the community become much more sophisticated. Children are no longer just playing near each other; they are expected to collaborate, negotiate, and understand different perspectives. By focusing on this bracket, we ensure that the challenges we tackle—such as navigating playground dynamics or group projects—are developmentally relevant. Our curriculum helps children at this age range build the confidence they need to navigate social situations more independently.
- 03We focus on the building blocks of friendship, such as: • Social Awareness: Understanding social cues and body language. • Perspective Taking: Learning to understand how others might feel or think. • Problem Solving: How to handle a disagreement or a change in plans during play. • Collaborative Play: Working together toward a common goal, like playing a board game.
- 04Not at all. We carefully match our groups based on age, ability, and interests to ensure every child feels comfortable. Because these groups are monitored by board-certified professionals, we provide the scaffolding support needed to help your child engage at their own pace without feeling pressured.
- 05Generally, if your child can follow basic instructions and has a desire to interact with others—even if they don't quite know how yet—they may fit. We will invite you to a trial class to conduct a brief screening so we can assess if the group dynamic will be beneficial for both your child and their future peers before actual enrollment.
- 06Because we carefully match each child to a group that fits their age and social goals, the best way to find the right fit is to contact us directly. Once you reach out, a member of our team will chat with you about your child’s needs and advise you on the upcoming intake dates and the group dynamics that would best support them.
